Description

This is a fine copy from a numbered, limited edition 1992 reissue of an uber-rare private press LP by Smack, originally released in 1968.  The story behind this record is at least as interesting as the music itself.  Per the insert that comes with the LP, the group formed at a summer "band and art" camp in Lawrence, Kansas, (where the University of Kansas is located) in 1968.  They rehearsed for five weeks, and recorded a set of nine songs in a nearby studio one afternoon right after the camp ended.  The resulting LP was then sent to other attendees of the camp who had ordered them -- 100-150 in toto.  And that was the end of the band.  The music itself is not at all bad, and given its unlikely origin in a summer camp, it's surprisingly heavy.  The group does mostly Cream (3) and Hendrix (4) songs, and turns down the volume a bit for versions of "For What It's Worth" and the Kinks' "Set Me Free."  The record has been reissued a couple of times since, but this pressing was the first to reissue it in any format.  The record is housed in a generic white jacket with cover slicks pasted on the front and back covers.  There is some rippling in the cover slicks, but otherwise they and the jacket are close to pristine -- overall EX.  Visually, the disc is clean.  The source disc plays with some light surface noise.  Graded visually, M-.  The one-sided insert is M-.  This copy is #184/300.

I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.

If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
