Description

A superior original copy of the 1954 Imperial release by New Orleans R&B legend Smiley Lewis. This record features the original version of Blue Monday, which later became a massive hit for Fats Domino. Produced by Dave Bartholomew at Cosimo Matassa’s studio, the track is a masterclass in the "New Orleans Sound," featuring a heavy, rolling piano rhythm and Lewis's booming baritone. The B-side, Down the Road, is an equally strong Crescent City jumper.
