Description
Excellent, guaranteed original, 1984 WEST GERMAN Blues/Rock LP by SNAKEFINGER entitled "Snakefinger's History Of The Blues" on Rough Trade Records (#24, Stereo). The late great SNAKEFINGER at his best, doing what he really knows best, Blues, bad ass Blues, rockin' Blues, boogie down Blues, with a twist of Jazz!!!!! This long out-of print record was originally released on Rough Trade (Germany). It was recorded live around Europe in Fall/Winter 1984, with SNAKEFINGER and a band that included a three-piece horn section, performing historically faithful renditions of classic blues material originally performed by Muddy Waters, Bobby Blue Bland, Albert, Freddie, and BB King, etc. SNAKEFINGER (Philip Charles Lithman) was a long time friend and collaborator with The Residents and his brilliant and distinctive guitar and violin work can be heard on many of their major releases. In turn The Residents played on and produced his first recordings for Ralph Records. After the initial success of his "The Spot" single many great albums were to follow, "Chewing Hides The Sound"," "A Manual Of Errors," "Greener Postures," he was also a staple with The Clubfoot Orchestra, and I think that some of the players on this LP hailed from Clubfoot as well. He died from a heart attack while touring Europe with his band The Vestal Virgins on the same day that a single was released from his "Night Of Desirable Objects" album. It was called "There's No Justice In Life." Bass - Eric Drew Feldman; Drums - Jonny B. Ryan; Guitar - Michael Bertel; Guitar, Harmonica, Piano, Vocals - Snakefinger; Piano - Raoul N. Diseimbote; Saxophone [Baritone] - Josh Ende; Saxophone [Tenor] - Stephen Mackay; Saxophone [Tenor], Trombone, Trumpet - Richard Marriot. Tunes include: "Natural Ball," "36-22-26," "Cryin' For My Baby," "I Can't Be Satisfied," "Crosscut Saw," "Everyday I Have The Blues," "If You Haven't Any Hay," "You Upset Me," "Preachin' Blues," "These Kind Of Blues," and "Stolen Moments." Condition: Cover = solid VG++ (very light wear, no seam splits), Record = beautiful VG++ (very light paper scuffs - plays through fine though!, 1 small white price sticker on 1 side of the label only). Winning bidder to add $3.50 postage in the USA. Good luck - check out my other auctions for more vintage records for sale and save on combined postage costs!
