Prestige Bluesville 1052, “Songs We Taught Your Mother” with Alberta Hunter, Lucille Hegamin, and Victoria Spivey, backed by a bevy of trad jazz greats (see scan); from 1962.The original heavy DG vinyl plays at NM with virtually no background sound. The jacket is like new and in the original shrink wrap; I can detect no flaws. Songs are “Got Myself a Workin’ Man”, “Got a Mind to Ramble”, “You Gotta Reap Just What You Sow”, and “Chirpin’ the Blues” (Hunter); “St. Louis Blues”, “You’ll Want My Love”, Arkansas Blues”, and “Has Anybody Seen My Corinna” (Hegamin); “Black Snake Blues”, “Goin’ Blues”, “I Got the Blues So Bad”, and “Let Him Beat Me” (Spivey). This is one of a set of original Bluesville LPs from several collections brought together for sale this week on eBay. Most are original DG copies in remarkable condition, and many are in the original shrink wrap. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $18.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $11.75 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
