SONNY CLARK "Cool Struttin'" Blue Note 1588, DG, P, RVG, Laminated, Mono Vinyl

This is the first edition, 1958, "RVG"-stamped, Deep Groove, Laminated Cover, "P"-pressing of SONNY CLARK's "Cool Struttin'" on the "47 West 63rd" labels of Blue Note BLP 1588.  Musicians include Sonny Clark, Jackie McLean, Art Farmer, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones.

VINYL plays with consistent low to medium level surface noise throughout. Oddly, Side 1 worse than Side 2 regarding surface noise. Some areas totally quiet. Some pops and ticks repeat. But Instruments are very clear, clean, dynamic, powerful. Decent vinyl gloss. Handful of hairline marks, 3 or 4 feelable. No distortion. No groovewear. No warps. Solid gloss both sides. The ""47 West 63rd" labels are very clean with minor spindle wear. See photos.

The LAMINATED COVER is in very good condition, with some peeling at jacket opening. Corners worn. Spine split down to "Blue Note." Two-inch split center of top seam. B"47 West 63rd. St., New York 23" back jacket shows overall fading, tape residue top left, pen writing over song titles. Please see photos.

     

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
