Description
SONNY CLARK Cool Struttin’ VINYL LP (Japan) Blue Note GXK8043 (1978 – King pressing, prior to Toshiba taking over Blue Note pressings. The obi says Vol.2 and I believe this is related to this being a follow-up, in a different series, to a Japanese pressing of the same record a year before. Japanese labels often pressed foreign albums as part of a series of music in a particular genre.)
Classic jazz album featuring pianist Sonny Clark, first released by Blue Note in America in 1958. Clark had been Dinah Washington’s regular accompanist before becoming Blue Note’s main session pianist. He was regarded as one of the best jazz pianists of his day. He died in 1963. Players on this album are Sonny Clark piano, Art Farmer trumpet, Jackie McLean alto sax, Paul Chambers bass and Philly Joe Jones drums. Chambers and Jones were members of the Miles Davis Quartet at the time. This is a quality Japanese pressing from 1978. [original write-up]
Record Grade: EX+ to M-
(Looks like it's been kept carefully since purchase with a couple of plays. It's very clean under strong light. )
Cover Grade: EX+ to M-
(Great cover - no bends, no splits, no shelf wear, no dings. Japanese language insert is also clean. Obi is all good.)
Nice copy.
FREE SHIPPING TO AUSTRALIA (registered post on $20+ items)
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS NOTE: Import taxes are the responsibility of the buyer. Please be aware of these costs before bidding. (International Postage terms: see below) Posted with vinyl outside of sleeve to prevent sleeve splits in transit. Packed in solid cardboard. Japanese pressings are usually heavier packages.
IMPORTANT: All records graded carefully under strong light.
I have a long standing good reputation for grading and I use
the UK grading system which includes EX grades. I am used to
strict Japanese grading standards. If a disc is graded EX you
will not receive something that should be VG+. On the off chance
that happens, please contact me and I will sort it out.
International Postage:
These discs are generally aimed at Australian buyers,
but I have a lot of experience posting internationally.
International postage will be an $ AU 30 flat rate .
(I'll cover the difference, including tracking etc., and if actual postage
does happen to come in lower I'll refund the difference back.)
If you would like to combine international postage on multiple items
please wait for an invoice.
NOTE: I am going to be selling my own collection of clean
Japanese pressings with obi's and other discs this year.
I have issues with storage because my wife and I have been
relocating between Australia and Korea.
Vinyl is visually graded only. My sound system is still in storage in
another city.
Grading note: Very clean near mint records may sometimes have tiny
specks of dust or very small ultra thin fabric strands (which can sometimes
be mistaken for marks) on the vinyl, which come from the inside of
inner sleeves. Both of these will likely be removed by the stylus on first play.
If I can, I send items out in anti-static inner sleeves to try to minimize
this.
