SONNY ROLLINS - A NIGHT AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD

A truly impressive condition copy of this 1962 US jazz rarity with brilliant sound quality throughout

Year/Label : 1962 US BLUE NOTE Label number : BLP 1581 Matrix numbers :  BN-LP-1581-A, BN-LP-1581-B (with "RVG" stamped and Plastylite "P" or "ear" etched on each run-off)
Excellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl - weighty and completely flat, and displaying a beautiful jet black sheen - in normal daylight both sides of the vinyl come across as completely unmarked and it is only with very close scrutiny under a bright light that just a couple of very small, purely superficial and extremely wispy paper scuff lines can be identified (you will need to look very hard to spot them) on each side, but nothing here to impinge upon the truly wonderful sound quality and I have no reservation whatsoever in grading the condition of this vinyl as "excellent plus". Note the early press stamped "VAN GELDER" and etched Plastylite "P" or "ear" on each of the run-off's - each indicators of a very early pressing.   Excellent plus (EX+) condition labels : again, hard to fault and difficult to identify any sign of even a single rogue spindle trail at all - to all intents and purpsoes the condition of each label is pristine. Amazing! Clearly this is a record that has been only very sparingly played.  Note the early press "BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC NEW YORK USA" label text and of course the circular deep groove on each label, again synonymous with very early US pressings.  Very good plus (VG+) condition original thick cardboard outer sleeve : firm edges with intermittent light scuff marks on each of the top and bottom edges, a rigid spine devoid of any scuffs or "nicks", nicely defined right angled corners with a little mild rubbing on each, firm opening edges with no fraying, there is a non-obvious 4cm strip of sellotape on the top edge next to the top right corner where I think (not obvious) a small 1cm edge/corner tear exists, no unwanted writing or cardboard creasing, and all colours, art work, photos and text remain crisp and clear. The only other blemishes (each minor) are a little area of browning/age dioscolouration in each of the corners on the reverse side, and some very minor handling/storage marking at the bottom left corner again on the reverse side. Take a good look at my photos where I have tried to show a detailed and honest appraisal of the condition of this iconic sleeve - hard to believe that this copy is over 60 years of age...it remains impressive and eminently presentable!  Truly excellent plus (EX+) mono audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, distortion, interference, clicks or background crackle and complete silence during the dead wax run-in on each side. Wonderful tone and clarity with hard-to-fault crystal clear MONO sound quality throughout and each and every track remaining a great listen, and no wonder with these jazz giants at the top of their game : Sonny Rollins (tenor sax), Wilbur Ware (bass), Elvin Jones (drums), Donald Bailey (bass), and Pete La Roca (drums). Comes with new all-white poly-lined inner sleeve.     A really impressive copy of this 1962 US 2nd press jazz rarity with the wonderful sound quality being a true standout.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £3.38 using Royal Mail tracked 48 (ebay's "simple delivery");

for continental Europe £12 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked,

and for the rest of the world £18 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
