Description

Up for auction is a very nice copy of the Sonny Rollins album "Sonny Rollins And The Contemporary Leaders" released on Contemporary Records (S7564) in 1958.  This is an original, stereo, deep groove pressing.  As you can see from the photos, the cover is in superb condition.  Virtually no flaws to speak of.  No rubbing, no ring wear, no writing, no seam splits, no age discoloration.  Simply put, this is the nicest copy of this cover I've ever come across.  Beautiful.  I grade it Near Mint (NM).  The vinyl is in nice visual condition.  No obvious scratches or scuffs.  Retains its original high gloss shine.  At some angles you can see one very faint hairline, but it's hard to see.  Labels are bright and clean.  Visually, I grade the vinyl EX+ (Excellent Plus).  I've play tested this record, and overall it sounds very nice; though on the opening tracks of both sides there is audible surface noise from the lead-in grooves into the first part of the tracks, then the surface noise fades out to a bare minimum.  It doesn't overwhelm the music at any time, but it's there at the beginning.  Not near mint or audiophile quality, but it still is, overall, a very nice sounding, enjoyable record.  I'd grade the audio VG+/EX-.  If the audio were perfect, I'd be asking substantially more for this otherwise beautiful copy of this rare Sonny Rollins classic.  100% guaranteed.
