Description
SONNY ROLLINS with his self titled release from 1957. This copy is the first pressing BLUE NOTE BLP 1542 MONO DEEP GROOVE with 47 WEST 63 rd N.Y.C. on the label.The dead wax has RVG .The vinyl visually grades: side 1 VG(+) side two is VG+ There is still a good shine along with light superficial hairline/scuff type marks.The majority of these surface marks are the type that you have to hold the disc at the appropriate angle for viewing.Overall there isn't alot of marking on the disc's surface.The one exception of note is a 3/8 of an inch scratch on track one side one about 2/3 rds of the way in. It does sound but it's not a loud click.Otherwise the play quality on side one is VG+ some light pop/crackle but nothing that becomes disturbing or excessive. Side two overall plays a good VG+ to VG+(+) with just some minimal light click/pop. The labels are very clean grading VG+++/M - with one side having just the slightest hint of spindle marking. The cover grades somewhere between a good VG to VG(+) It has a very small price sticker on the front. All 3 sides/ seams have wear and cracking. There are a few small areas where the yellow has come off due to tape removal on the front by the record sleeve(see scan).A very faint strip of tape residue is also visible on the back cover along the record sleeve also.There is no ring wear and the cover still displays quite well.
