Description

For auction is SONNY ROLLINS' "Freedom Suite" on Riverside RLP 12-258, MONO, DG, 1958. With Oscar Pettiford and Max Roach.

SOUND: VG/VG+

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Side A is the better-sounding of the two; overall, a bit of faint background noise underneath, very easily ignored, and otherwise sounding excellent. Side B begins the same, with B1 sounding good (VG+) but surface noise increases in B2-B3 and tics becomes systematic. Not overpowering, but certainly not ideal. I'd rate B2-3 "VG" on their own. B4 returns to VG+

VINYL: VG+

Visually, the vinyl is nice. Overall, glossy and fairly clean. there are smudges on both sides that were not removed by my cleaning. Side A is the better side; other than one short hairline, I see no other marks. Side B has a few more marks of the hairline variety. On blue "mike-and-reel" with deep-grooves. Labels are very clean and in excellent shape.

COVER: VG+

The cover is very nice. Top and bottom edges are solid with minimal wear. The spine has a touch more wear, but still nice and solid. there's a tiny bit of fraying on the right edge by the slit. The corners are good, each with an average touch of wear/rounding. Both front and back are fairly clean with only routine, minor wear or aging. There is a 2-3 inch wrinkle in the paper on the back lower right. There is a soft crease front lower left, about 3 inches across corner. See the pics.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

Some flaws, but still a solid album to add to your collection. No reserve, bidding starts at $50.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
