over the next two weeks I will be listing over 100 jazz lps, most of which have been in the same collection since new.Many are rare and the majority are in superb condition !
mono 4001, a rare gem from blue note. It has been in the collection of one meticulous owner since it was bought in 1958. This is rollins' last lp for blue note...'rollins' greatest work for the label was still to come. on 22 september (1957) lion recorded him with only a rythm section...the resulting album, newks time, is remarkable!'( richard cook, blue note the biography)
the big toned rollins really shines in this combo and is in unstoppable form in tracks like the stunning soulful asiatic raes ( later done by hubbard in going up ) and the upbeat groove of blues for philly joe. A special and exciting lp !!
vinyl excellent , no scratches, a few very light paper scuffs, the thick vinyl is shiny and beautiful. there is very occasional light surface noise between tracks but the music plays loud with amazing fidelity! the label is deep grooved with the 47 west63rd address, no 'r' mark on both sides, a first press ! RVG and ear mark in run off. SUPERB !
cover excellent - laminated, a couple of spots of wear on bottom seam and small corner crease top left. no splits or rips. two import stamps on back, plus owners name written. 43w61st address , orig inner
