SONNY STITT – STITT’S BITS – PRESTIGE PR 7133 – 446 W 50TH ST, NYC – EX/EX – MONO
This Prestige LP is the 12-inch release of assorted Prestige material recorded from 1950 to 1951. It features Sonny Stitt on tenor and alto. Recorded on February 17, 1950, he accompanied by Kenny Drew on piano, Tommy Potter on bass and Art Blakey on drums. Their selections are: AVALON; MEAN TO ME and STAIRWAY TO THE STARS. The next session, recorded on June 28, 1950 features Stitt with Duke Jordan on piano, Gene Wright on bass and Wesley Landers on drums. They play: COUNT EVERY STAR; COUNT EVERY STAR; NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT; THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER YOU and BLAZIN’. The next session, recorded on October 8, 1950, Bill Massey on trumpet, Matthew Gee on trombone, Gene Ammons on tenor, Gene Wright on bass and Wesley Sanders join Stitt on: AFTER YOU’VE GONE; S’WONDERFUL and OR VERY OWN. The last session on this LP was recorded on December 15, 1950 and has Stitt joining Junior Mance on piano, Gene Wright on bass and Art Blakey on drums on: NEVERTHELESS and JEEPERS, CREEPERS. The blank vinyl has stamped “RVG” on both sides and what appears to be a “J 8” as well. The address on the LP is “446 W. 50th ST., N.Y.C. The same address is on the record jacket as well. The LP comes in its original glassine sleeve. This is a MONO recording.
I have graded both the LP and the record jacket as EX for the following reasons. The vinyl on both sides of the LP is clean. There is one mark on Side 2, Cut 6, which is visible but does not track nor does it interfere with play. There is really no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole on either side. The record jacket is in excellent condition with no taped or worn seams. Either the lamination on the cover or the cardboard underneath appears to have shrunk a bit, so that there is a narrow crease across under “SONNY STITT”, and a couple of very small ones. I am still grading this as EX, considering the overall condition of the record jacket, as it is the original. Unlike other Prestige jackets, there is no address on the bottom but instead there is a statement about Prestige Records and the LPs of Sonny, before this release. This material was originally released on 10 inch LPs and this is the first release on 12 inch LP. If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks.

PAYMENT & SHIPPING
Satisfaction guaranteed on item. I regret that the USPS has raised their prices. The LP will be well packed. Fully packed in a crush proof box, it weighs 1.8 pounds. Due to increased cost, I have to charge an additional $1.00 for packing in the crush proof box. Believe me, it’s worth it! The method of payment is PayPal. As of October 20, 2008, eBay has decided to make PayPal the only method of payment for this item! This way, eBay has you coming and going! If you are a bidder who prefers to pay by other means, I suggest that you file a complaint! I regret the inconvenience. The LP will be shipped either by Media Rate @ $2.98 or by Priority Mail @ $5.80 and up depending where you reside. Overseas bidders should consider First Class Mail International. The cost to Europe and Asia begins at $20.45 in the crush proof box. It’s worth it! USPS has hammered overseas shipping!
