[I'm going to re-offer a great, and quite rare 1927-28 side by Fletcher Henderson, who kicked the job of Hot Band-Leading to the next level. No kidding, this is a fantastic record - and it seriously puzzles me why no one has snapped it up yet!!)
HERE'S A little-known hot side by FLETCHER HENDERSON'S COLLEGIANS from 1928: they take on Howdy Quicksell's number, "SORRY," memorably played on OKeh by Bix Beiderbecke and his Gang. On this version, the Henderson band hews to the stock arrangement, until after the vocal. Then BOBBY STARK, trumpet and COLEMAN HAWKINS, tenor sax, solo hotly, driving the band to a torrid conclusion.
On the flip side, FRED RICH'S DANCE ORCHESTRA give their usual pep to the blah pop tune, "DREAM KISSES."
This scarce original 1927 electrical Regal 8455 is in nice EE- condition. Plays VERY cleanly!
