SOUL VINE SHAMAN rare amazing private psych avant (read Shipping Info | S/H info: Description SOUL VINE SHAMAN on NO LABEL records. amazing obscurity here privately-financed by nyc musicologist neelon crawford in 1976. this is a field recording of ecuadorian shaman Sinchi Yachaj casting out spirits from a stricken villager. i can't help but be reminded of moondog at times as he plays violin, bird bone flute, whistles and sings, all in a deep trance-like state brought on by local hallucinogens. from the liners: "[he] drinks a powerful hallucinogen, goes into a psychedelic trance...and experiences soaring psychedelic trips to other worlds. finally, he locates and 'sees' the cause of the illness... and noisily sucks them out of her body". i did some research into this album and although crawford seems to have vanished, the LP managed to make its way into john zorn's top 10 world music recordings. fantastic, fascinating LP and copy is complete with 8 page booklet. very eclectic list today of 200+ vintage vinyl obscurities, curiosities and rarities, see my other auctions.
please see my ME page for more on my auctions.
