Die amerikanische Metal-Band Soulfly wurde 1997 vom ehemaligen Sepultura Frontmann Max Cavalera in Phoenix, Arizona gegründet. Ihre Kombination aus brasilianischen Tribal-Sounds, Welt-Musik und brachialem Metal machte sie in der härteren Musik-Szene einzigartig. Prophecy ist ihr 4. Album, das ursprünglich bei dem legendären Roadrunner Records erschien und dessen 12 Songs maßgeblich aus der Feder Cavaleras stammen, der nach einem längeren Serbien Aufenthalt von spirituellen Themen beeindruckt zurückkehrte. Für die Aufnahmen rekrutierte er ein neues Line-Up, darunter David Ellefson von Megadeth, Bobby Burns von Primer 55 am Bass und Marc Rizzo (Ill Niño) an der Gitarre. Das Album ist schwer und druckvoll und präsentiert einige Riffs, die uns deutlich an Cavaleras Zeit mit Sepultura erinnern. Die introspektiven Songs klingen dabei wie eine Fusion zwischen Metal, Dub und Tribal. Prophecy ist ein Album mit verschiedensten Gesichtern, was es definitiv zu einem echten Soulfly-Meisterwerk macht. Prophecy ist jetzt erstmals auf Vinyl erhältlich und kommt als limitierte Erstauflage von 2.000 einzeln nummerierten LPs auf GOLD/BLACK MIXED Vinyl. Zusätzlich enthält das Paket ein 12- seitiges Booklet und eine Etched D-Side.

The American metal band Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera. Prophecy is their fourth album and consist of world music influenced songs. During the time Cavalera spent in Serbia he began to get impressed by spiritual themes. He recruited a new line-up, including David Ellefson of Megadeth and Bobby Burns of Primer 55 on bass guitar and Marc Rizzo, formerly of Ill Niño, on guitar. The album is heavy with some riffs that remind us of his time with Sepultura. The introspective songs sound more like a fusion between metal, dub and tribal. It is an album with different faces, which makes it a real Soulfly album. Soulfly was formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1997 by Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera. Their combination of Brazilian tribal sounds, world music and metal makes them unique in the contemporary music scene. Prophecy is available on vinyl for the first time. The package includes a 12 page booklet.
