"Good Lovin'" "The Penny Song"
South 40 started as a joining of members from The Rave-Ons (Dick and Larry Wiegand, along with Harry Nehls) and Jokers Wild (Dave Waggoner and Dave Middlemist). During their two year run as South 40, they released two singles and one live LP called "Live at Someplace Else" (with Someplace Else being a club in Robbinsdale, Minnesota). This is the first of the band's two singles. A fairly straightforward cover of "Good Lovin" is executed on Side A. Perhaps more interesting is the original composition on Side B, called "The Penny Song," which is arguably the more energetic number... and the real highlight of this single. In 1969, South 40 had a name change and became Crow. They would quickly score their biggest hit with their original composition "Evil Woman Don't Play Your Games With Me," which went to #19 on the Billboard Charts in 1969, then went on to be covered by Black Sabbath for their very first single.
