In the late '50s, folklorist Alan Lomax toured the South making field recordings of folk, bluegrass and blues musicians from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Mississippi Delta. In the process, he discovered Forest City Joe and Mississippi Fred McDowell. Seven albums were released individually on Atlantic Records entitled Southern Folk Heritage Series. This is part of an amazing collection of indigenous American music. Check out my listings, I have more of them for sale
