ORIGINAL PRESSING !
The Spaniels are best known for their massive 1954 hit, "Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight." Lead vocalist James "Pookie" Hudson was a graceful lead singer who influenced many who came after him, and they were also one of the first R&B groups to perform with the lead singer on one microphone and the rest of the group sharing another. Their often a cappella recordings showcase the purity of a sound and style uniquely their own. It was also the Spaniels who partially brought about the formation of one of R&B's legendary labels, Vee-Jay, which became one of the most successful black-owned record companies in the country. This Single goes right back to near the beginning with the Spaniels. It was the spring of 1953 when Vivian Carter was setting up Vee Jay Records with Jimmy Bracken (V-J geddit?), and they had a silent partner in Art Sheridan, owner of Chance Records.
They were looking for talent to launch the label and one of the first groups they discovered was The Spaniels. On May 4, 1953 they had their first session and among the four songs were two that make up this record : “Baby It’s You” and “The Bounce.” When the record was released they didn’t have enough of hook-ups to get it distributed quickly, so they had it hastily put out with Chance Records (owned by their other – silent- partner) who got it out to shops.
To get a bit more attention for the new record, first copies were pressed up on RED WAX. These are the most desirable, and the rarest of their records. And yes, it IS AN ORIGINAL.

CONDITION: VG- There’s quite a few light marks on this one, but it still plays rather well. Fully tested with no skips, nothing even close, and guaranteed 1953 original. Even has the original 59¢ price mark on the label. Actual postage on this item is 3.00 within the US. No handling charges ever!
