" THEIR FIRST LP "
Released in 1965 on FONTANA RECORDS,
Catalogue number TL 5242
The LABELS are in excellent condition with just the usual spindle trails around the hole, visible on these matt finish FONTANA labels in angled light.
The MATRIX numbers are; Side One 687343 1 L // 1 v 420 , Side Two 687343 2 L // 1 v 420 , indicating that this is one of the original MONO FIRST PRESSINGS !
VINYL
The VINYL is in very good condition with visible paper scuffs and surface scratches only.
I have just play checked this LP and the sound is SUPERB, as you always get with these early MONO pressings, a rich punchy bass, piercing harmonica not to mention Steve Winwood's, Ray Charles influenced, vocals, FANTASTIC !!! Side One play grades EXCELLENT- on my system; Garrard 401 turntable with SME 3009 arm, Shure V-15 type III Cartridge going thru a Leak Varislope Pre-amp and Leak Stereo 50 Valve Amp then out of a pair of B & W DM 640 Speakers. MAKES YOU WANT TO DANCE !!! Side Two also play grades EXCELLENT-, no clicks, pops or skips (only the usual static background sound in the silence between tracks that dust can occasionally create) this is BLUE EYED SOUL AT IT'S BEST !!! Until you hear their second and third LP's, that is.
The front LAMINATED SLEEVE has a few small creases, and the remains of the adhesive from the original shop sticker, top right (see photo). The unlaminated back cover has age discolouration, and the corners have some shelf wear,other than that it's in great condition (see photo).
