Description

"Orchestras Of The Nation" radio show transcription discs issued by The Armed Forces Radio Service.  49 minutes of a 60 minute radio broadcast on these two 16 inch, vinyl, 33 1/3 rpm discs.  These discs were issued to radio stations for broadcast only and not available to the general public, very rare!

Please note these discs contain approximately 49 minutes of a 60 minute radio broadcast.  These discs contain parts 1, 2, 3 & 4 of 5 parts.

"Orchestras Of The Nation" radio program #12 from February 2, 1946 featuring the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra performing from Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis and conducted by Vladimir Golschmann

Music includes:

1 - Overture And Allegro from La Sultane by Francois Couperin   (complete)

2 - Verklarte Nacht (Transfigured Night) by Arnold Schoenberg (complete)

3 - Circus Polka by Igor Stravinsky (complete)

4 - Francesca Da Rimini by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - this selection is incomplete, these discs contain the first 5:45 minutes of this selection only

The program includes some history of The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Vladimir Golschmann by the announcer.  The exact total time on these four discs is 48:45

Discs are in Excellent condition with Excellent sound, beautiful discs with beautiful sound!

Please note that 16 inch transcription discs will not play on most standard turntables due to their size.  I can make a CD copy of the discs for the buyer only for $10
