Description
This is a fine original U.S. pressing copy of the second LP by Steppenwolf, released in 1968. Formed from the Canadian group Sparrow, and taking their name from a novel by German writer Herman Hesse, the group was responsible for one of the signature songs of the late 1960s, "Born to Be Wild," which appeared on their 1968 debut. On their sophomore effort, they came up with another epochal hit, "Magic Carpet Ride," which also shot into the top 5 (and #1 in Canada). The rest of the LP's tracks aren't quite as uniformly good as the debut's, but do include another track by the composer of "Born to Be Wild," former Sparrow compadre Mars Bonfire ("Faster Than the Speed of Life"), along with several originals by group lead singer John Kay. The jacket's foil front cover slick is in fine condition with some light hairline scrapes, and the jacket overall is close to M- with creasing in one corner of the back cover slick, a little corner and seam wear, and a little light staining on the back cover (EX+). The disc has some light scraping and scuffing, and plays with some light surface noise and occasional light crackling (EX-).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
