record very near mint
superb factory-fresh gloss with no hairlines
this near perfect UK 1st press is rarely seen so nice
one of those amazing A&M pressings that first appears jet-black
but is in fact very dark raspberry red when held up to bright light
purchased from a large record sales rep archive collection
and - like almost all his albums, only ever played once or twice
earliest original 1971 UK 1st issue and a nice heavy pressing
hand-inscribed (by the cutting engineer) matrix / stampers:
A M L H - 6 4 3 0 4 - A · 1 A G 1
A M L H - 6 4 3 0 4 - B · 1 A H 1
labels mint and perfect
except for a very faint spindle trace to each side
otherwise immaculate with rich tan colouring
and all lettering / logos sharp, crisp, clear and exactly as new
cover very near mint
beautiful matt gatefold cover printed and made by MacNeill Press
is very close to mint and as new
the amazingly clean exterior is virtually perfect
this, of course, is mostly white with a silver background
and is NEVER seen so clean and unmarked
NO splits, tears, wear, writing, stickers, stamps, stains, scuffs,
fading, foxing, yellowing or other defects
gloriously rich and delicate colouring to the inside gatefold displaying
The Vision Of St. Jerome (tapestry from Spanish Royal Collection) and all lyrics
lovely spine, immaculate (unbelievable!) ultra-tight seams,
sharp corners, razor-sharp leading edges
clean rear opening edges (these have some light storage bumps)
no circular wear to either the front, inside or rear sleeve
this most appealing example still smells factory-fresh and new
inner sleeve mint
correct original A&M paper inner sleeve, advertising earlier Strawbs, and other LPs by:
Humble Pie, Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, Carole King and many more
jet-black and snow-white - a scarce original inner and hard to find like this
