Description
Near-Mint U.S. Beatles White Album!
For the serious Beatlemaniac, here’s a drop-dead gorgeous example of the original U.S. pressing, Apple SWBO-101 bearing number A2174797. It is complete with the "Bungalow Bill" label, poster & the four classic Beatle portraits, and all components are in near-mint or better condition.
Sleeve:
- Awe-inspiring - close to fresh-from-the-factory. Virginal white, magnificently glossy.
- No dirt, no smudges, no ringwear, no split seams, no kidding.
- Read the above again.
- Number A2174797.
- To be extremely picky: there is a very slight disc impression visible if you look closely enough and at the proper light angle, a couple of tiny scuffs (like 1/8" long, 1/32" wide) and a few very tiny impressions in the slick (it’s almost 40 years old, after all). There are also a few very small, light brown spots near the top right corner of the front (you have to look closely to see them), and a handful more on the back that are more prominent, though still minor.
- Spine is perfect but for a miniscule wear spot at the top edge. Text is fully legible.
- Inside is gorgeous; bears "SWBO 101" text only (no Apple copyright). No breaks in center of gatefold. Being picky again, there are a few light brown spots in the top corners like those on the outer surfaces, and equally difficult to see.
- Edges are sharp and unfeathered; corners show only gentle bumps.
- A fantastic cover - kudos to the previous owner(s) for lavishing such care!
Vinyl Visually (viewed under a high-intensity lamp):
- Disc 1 is a fabulous NM, with only a couple of barely-noticeable hairlines.
- Disc 2 is likewise but for a single needle-drag mark across "Good Night".
- Super-beautiful 1st-press labels (Capitol logo on sliced sides) with the "Bungalow Bill/Obladi" label on Disc 1; titles for "Rev 1/9" and "Good Night" are correct.
- No writing or other detractions; just a few spindle marks.
Critical Vinyl Play-grade (through headphones):
- Disc 1 plays virtually mint. Music is bright, clear, and undistorted. A light, multi-rev click toward the end of "Don’t Pass Me By"; otherwise, for all practical purposes, sounds like it’s fresh from the plant.
- Disc 2 plays likewise. A few light clicks during "Mother Nature’s Son" on Side 3. The "Good Night" needle drag is lightly audible, but much less so than expected.
- A thrilling listen overall!
Portraits & Poster:
- Poster is virtually mint; clearly only handled a few times and with care. Solid folds with little wear. No pinholes, tape stains, or brown-spotting.
- The 4 Beatle pics are fab – heavy stock, and virtually mint condition. Colors are rich & vibrant. No pinholes, tape stains, scuffs or scratches. You couldn’t ask for a nicer set, period.
The discs are in new poly sleeves, although paper inner sleeves are included with the set.
