Description

DOWNSIZING - Private sale.

The group was formed in 1960 by Shirley Walker and Martha Reeves, who originally planned on calling their group The Sabre-ettes. Sisters Joanne and Bernadine Boswell joined the group through an audition process.  Fern Bledsoe joined the group right around the time they changed their name to The Fasinations (sic).

Curtis Mayfield wrote and produced their single, "Girls Are Out to Getcha," which was their most commercially successful song: it reached #92 on the Billboard Hot 100, and on the R&B chart it climbed to #13.  The group reunited briefly in 1971, after their 1966 single "Girls Are Out to Get You" became popular in England as a part of the Northern soul movement.  Upon re-issue on the Polydor Records subsidiary Mojo label, "Girls Are Out to Get You" reached #32 in the UK Singles Chart in 1971, and The Fascinations took advantage of this unexpected resurgence in their popularity and reformed for their first overseas tour. They have not reformed since.

This record came to me as second hand in the 1960's. It has been played and there are surface marks but nothing which looks like it will click or jump. I've tried to show the condition in my pictures but the camera seems to magnify them. There is a bit of celotape marking to the left of the word 'Fascinations' on side A.  It has a cardboard sleeve with polythene liner.

I don't have time to play this but offer a refund if you’re disappointed.

Please click on the 'see other items' to the right hand side of this page to see what kind of Hi Fi I'm selling and my other vinyls from the 60's and 70's.

Thanks.
