It doesn't get rarer than this. Withdrawn after a label dispute, 'Be My God' was intended to be Suede's first ever single but only 500 were ever pressed. Featuring ex SMITHS drummer Mike Joyce and then girlfriend of Bret Anderson, Justine Frischman, this is the holy grail for Suede and britpop fans.
As this single was never issued officially and was pulled before any art work was completed, the 12" comes in the form of a white label in a plain white outer sleeve. There is no information on the labels, in fact the only marking on this disc is the intended catalogue number situated on the matrix. I have tried to take a photograph of this to show you... it is scratched in as is the norm and proves that this record is 100% OFFICIAL.
I've only ever found this 12" on popsike from 3 years ago: it is really unbelievably rare. A lost gem and a very strange document of Suede and the britpop era before it really began: this is THE indie rarity!
CONDITION OF VINYL: EXCELLENT. The grooves in the vinyl are still so shiny and sharp you can almost cut your finger on them! The playing surface has a lovely sheen to it and there are really only one or two paper scuffs from removing the disc from its protective sleeve. These are pretty insignificant and anyone used to playing and collecting records will know these are nothing to worry about.There is one very very light mark about half way through the A side which DOES NOT SOUND. There are no other scratches, no needlewear and no stains or detritus. PLAYBACK is awesome: though the production is quite different to 1993 era Suede everything is clear and thumping... you'll just be startled to hear the band like that! There is a tiny bit of pop at the very beginning of the record, but this is completely normal for most records and of course disappears after a few seconds on my deck. As soon as the band kicks in it's sheer smoothness all the way! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
As usual I'm starting this listing low and with NO RESERVE. I SHIP WORLDWIDE. I am an avid collector of many, many genres and keep my records in IMMACULATE condition. I grade according to the Record Collector Price Guide 'Ready Reckoner' and almost NEVER sell anything which is below EXCELLENT condition. Rest assured that my EXCELLENT is bloody EXCELLENT! Oh yeah and I NEVER GRADE ANYTHING MINT THAT IS NOT SEALED!! Near Mint is the highest grading I use for unsealed records.
All records will be sent within two days MAXIMUM of receipt of payment (usually within 4/5 hours of payment received). Your record will be expertly packed in a professional brown mailer, using one or two stiffeners and housed in a PVC 7" sleeve with the record in a paper inner placed outside the sleeve as is standard practice. I've always been lucky when buying records from ebay (save the odd occasion) and would like all buyers of my records to be 100% SATISFIED!
