Hardly a household name in punk/new wave but upon hearing their second album and major label debut Teenage Drug you're left wondering why. There's 14 tracks here of pure entertainment. It's music that doesn't take itself too seriously, which is something you might be able to figure out purely from reading the track titles and the Dire Straits-bating band name. The exciting, confrontational 'Pyschopath' is fuelled by lavish amounts of distortion and simple punk chords. 'Curse' has a Primus-esque sense of chaos and you begin to suspect they'd be a venue manager's nightmare with the level of debauchery infused into the sound. Cork, Ireland may be having its moment in the limelight nowadays with the likes of Pebbledash and Cliffords breaking through, but it's hard to imagine a new band formed now being anywhere near as fearless. It's through taking it back to the 90s (1994 when this album was first released) that you get a glimpse into a more unhinged era.
