Sun Ra and his Intergalactic Infinity Arkestra !

Space Is the Place provides an excellent introduction to Sun Ra's vast and free-form jazz catalog. Typical of many Sun Ra recordings, the program is varied; earthbound songs, like the swing number "Images" and Egyptian exotica piece "Discipline," fit right in with more space-age cuts, like the tumultuous "Sea of Sounds" and the humorous "Rocket Number Nine." Sun Ra fuses many of these styles on the sprawling title cut, as interlocking harmonies, African percussion, manic synthesizer lines, and joyous ensemble blowing all jell into some sort of church revival of the cosmos. Throughout the recording, Sun Ra displays his typically wide-ranging talents on space organ and piano, reed players John Gilmore and Marshall Allen contribute incisive and intense solos, and June Tyson masterfully leads the Space Ethnic Voices on dreamy vocal flights. This is a fine recording and a must for Sun Ra fans. (AllMusic)

Packaging: Records are shipped very securely, in heavyweight cardboard materials from Vinyl Revival. Records are placed in a polybag, with cardboard sheets on either side, and enclosed in a heavy cardboard mailer.

Domestic Shipping Costs:
• LP’s to any location in the United States are shipped Media Mail at $4.00, or Priority at $7.00
• 7" records (45's) are shipped 1st Class to any location in the United States at $4.00, or Priority at $7.30
* (Shipping for 7” records is more than that for LP’s because the cardboard mailers are more expensive.)

International Shipping Costs:
• Shipping to Canada (1st Class International) is $8.00 for LP's and $5.00 for 45's.
• LP shipping to Europe, Japan, Australia (1st Class International) is $16.00.

CONDITION
• NO RISK: If I miss something in grading and the record is not as described, I will refund the purchase price if returned in the original shipping materials and condition, and the refund is requested within a week of receipt.
• I try to grade conservatively, and will often describe flaws for further accuracy.

Record Grades (from GOLDMINE):
•Still Sealed (SS) Still sealed in the factory shrink wrap. The only records I sell as Still Sealed are ones I purchased sealed, never opened and stored properly.
•Near Mint (NM)   A nearly perfect record. The record will show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or LP sleeve will have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. Has gloss and shine.

An LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap.
•Very Good Plus (VG+)  A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are ok. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it will be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. 

Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. 

In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.
•Very Good (VG)   Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. The surface of the record may be dull from repeated use.
Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them. 

•Good (G), Good Plus (G+)   Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. Some people might want to buy these to fill holes in their collection. 
A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
