Description
Here we have a very hard to find 7 inch single of The Sunsets “Theme From a Life in the Sun / Windansea.” It’s an Australian pressing on the Festival label (cat# FK-1632). “A life In the Sun” was recorded for Paul Witzig’s 1966 surfing movie of the same name, and I’m assuming “Windansea” was too. Both tracks are typical 60’s surf style instrumentals; the A-side is a slow, mellow track that kind of reminds me of the Endless Summer theme, while the B-side is a catchy, more upbeat number.
Aside from it’s scarcity, it’s also highly collectable recording as The Sunsets eventually morphed into the legendary Tamam Shud, who later featured on the Evolution and Morning of the Earth surf movie soundtracks. It’s also collectable as the original film no longer exists. Apparently, Witzig added the footage to his 1967 surf movie The Hot Generation, and The Sunsets also recorded the title track of the new film. The Hot Generation by the Sunsets is one of the most collectable surf movie recordings ever……..if you have a copy treasure it!
The record is in Good condition. It has lots of scuffs and some light scratches, but plays through without skipping or sticking. It plays with some background noise, but is still very listenable! The labels are in
Good(+) condition. They show general signs of wear consistent with a 44 year old record, but there’s no ugly writing, stickers or sticker residue. Comes in a generic white paper sleeve in VG condition.
Can pick up from Sorrento, Victoria, or will post Australia wide for $3.00; more for registered post. Will happily swap for other surf records, let me know what you have. I don’t have regular internet access presently, so please call/txt 0417222799 if you have any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck!
