PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original 1971 BRITISH first pressing on the old UK DECCA label, very collectible...Marmalade had popularity in the England and USA with soft-psych hits in the sixties ... by 1971 the band had progressed with crafted BEATLES like high quality songs... as a result, their best and hardest to find album, well sought after, and deservedly so....

Despite several line up changes and a ‘Sex on Tour’ scandal in ‘The News of the World’ newspaper (which caused a little embarrassment) MARMALADE, With their unique vocal harmonies and dynamic performances delighted the record buying public from the mid sixties through the early 70's, having achieved a multi-million number one selling records with ‘OB LA DI OB LA DA’ and ‘ Reflections of my Life’ both in the UK and the USA respectively. Since the heady days of the sixties, whilst retaining their Scottish roots, ‘MARMALADE’ have proved to be, not only a good time band but a musical entity capable of transcending all types of music and generations. This 1971 Lp "Songs" is a lost classic. Musically it is far more advanced than previous Marmalade Lp's. Great tunes and good songwriting, but folks you're gonna have to shell out to own the original vinyl copy. Its collectable, very collectable. But then it should be - its so good, in the sense of being a real grower with repeat plays... The opening hard rock number "Bad Weather" starts the album on a strong note. The other hard rocker "I've Been Around Too Long" as well as the rural influenced "Sarah" and the beautiful album closer "Ride Boy Ride" make this album one of the best of the type along the lines of the late 60's Beatles or the Hollies.... Before this album was recorded, guitarist and songwriting partner of lead singer Dean Ford, Junior Campbell left the band and the Marmalade replaced him with Hugh Nicholson for this album. Without his writing partner Dean Ford only contributed two songs to this album. The gentle folk rock numbers "Mama" and "Lovely Nights" which are both highlights. New boy Nicholson wrote the rest of the material, except the great soul rocker "Empty Bottles" which was written by bass player Graham Knight and was recorded shortly before Junior Campbell's departure. This Lp is as melodic as they come. A masterpiece that is satisfying from beginning to end. "She Wrote Me A Letter" is as well crafted as the Beatle's "Yesterday" and leaves one wishing that this particular phase of Marmalade would have stuck around for supper. Hugh Nicholson is a true poprock craftsman.A:

CONDITION: The cover: Very fragile British 41 year old original is highly laminated and very clean, "EX" (excellent) to M- with bright original colors and NO problems, anywhere: no bends, no riting and no split seams...
The vinyl: all clean and smooth, "EX" (excellent) to M- over both sides ... obviously plays beautiful...and the DECCA labels are both clean... TOP COPY!
