Description

Here is Mr. Gasser and the Weirdos with "Doin' the Surfink" b/w "Finksville U.S.A." (Capitol Promo 2644/5). Released in July, 1964.

This is a rare label with "Weirdos" spelled as "Wierdos." The error was quickly spotted by Capitol and copies with the correct spelling were pressed. The misspelled versions are very hard to find.

This 45 was available exclusively when purchasing the Super Stocks LP "Surf Route 101" Capitol (S)T-2113. It's an unmistakable Gary Usher classic. The A-side is a hilarious tribute to (parody of?) Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys, with a falsetto voice chirping out the most inane lyrics (yer sunburn's peelin'). The B-side is a typical Mr. Gasser rap about a place that doesn't exist. If you own the Super Stocks LP but don't have this single, here's your chance to restore the set and increase its value.

Gary Usher involvement here, with all the great session musicians of L.A. at the time, including Steve Douglas, Hal Blaine, Leon Russell, and others.

Record is EX. Slight warp, but otherwise a gorgeous copy.
