Very rare SWANS "Public Castration Is A Good Idea" double live album, on vinyl, from their legendary 1986 tour, promoting the "Holy Money"/"Greed" LP releases. The 1986 tour saw the SWANS at their brutal best! "Holy Money" and "Greed" were great releases - but "Public Castration Is A Good Idea" takes the songs from those two albums, to a whole other level, with gut-wrenching rhythms, that pulverize like the repeated blows from a sledge-hammer. This music is not for everyone - it is brutal, relentless, and it takes you to that dark place, where there is no hope, and there is no escape. This is where the Swans pushed the absolute boundaries - and obviously, it took its toll. After this, they became the 'Children of God', and then went neo-folky and all nostalgic, before disbanding.
This double live album is a testament to the SWANS, at their peak. This album is long out of print.
