Description
SXL 2011 Petrushka, Ansermet WBg ED.1 BLUE BORDER
Stravinsky, Petrushka.
Ernest Ansermet and L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
Original 1958 UK pressed Decca Records stereo LP, SXL 2011.
Earliest issue with grooved black and silver wide band label, "Original Recording" perimeter lettering and 1E/2E matrix suffixes.
Flimsy fully laminated sleeve has visible rear backflaps and earliest variant blue borders, with 58/9 date code to bottom of rear.
Vinyl in close to near mint condition. Hard to detect any spider trace marks at centre spindle areas, and labels have a very high lustre still. Vinyl surfaces have a rich and bright gloss and are free of any marks save for a very few of the tiniest of superficial sleeve removal hairline scuffs. Appears little and carefully played.
Inner sleeve is original and in really well preserved condition, very fresh and bright still, and free of marks or creases.
Main sleeve has survived in very acceptably clean condition, but is short of perfect. Front and rear panels are clean and unmarked and there are no tears, creases or seam splits/edge wear. Laminate is fully intact but has a spot of peeling to centre of rear entry side and top right corner of rear. Just one or two minor storage chips to extremities and light corner bumping/rubbing. There is a horizontal crease to the top of the front panel (just above the Russian writing) which is inherent in manufacture, and not overly detracting. All in all however, sleeve has survived pretty admirably. Along with early DGs, these rank as the most fragile of the early UK classical sleeves, and it is not uncommon to find them heavily torn and with large areas of loss, even if the vinyl is unaffected.
A really nice and clean example of a fairly iconic early audiophile release
