Description

GRIEG PEER GYNT, INCIDENTAL MUSIC TO IBSEN'S PLAY

OIVIN FJELSTAD CONDUCTING THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

I use the standard grading system stated below for all my vinyl

and try to be as honest as I can about any flaws or imperfections.

Catalogue number: SXL 2012

Record Label: DECCA, WIDE BAND GROOVED EDITION 1 'ORIGINAL RECORDING BY' AT TEN O'CLOCK

Matrix: 2E/2E

Vinyl condition: VISUALLY EXCELLENT+, WITH A FEW EXTREMELY LIGHT SURFACE MARKS UNDER STRONG LIGHT, ALL OF WHICH ARE NON-SOUNDING. THE RECORD PLAYS SUPERBLY AND STILL HAS THE POWER TO MAKE THE HAIRS ON THE BACK OF YOUR NECK STAND UP, IT DOES SUFFER A LITLE WITH MINOR BACKGROUND SURFACE NOISE THROUGHOUT. I USE A FAIRLY STANDARD SANYO TURNTABLE WITH A NEW NEEDLE, I DO FEEL THAT THE QUALITY WOULD BE HUGELY IMPROVED IF PLAYED THROUGH HIGHER QUALITY EQUIPMENT. I STILL FIND THE LP EXTREMELY ENJOYABLE TO LISTEN TO BUT FEEL I MUST MENTION THIS LIGHT NOISE. THIS ITEM IS FROM A COLLECTION.

Sleeve condition: EXCELLENT+/NEAR MINT, BLUE BORDER TO BACK, INDICATING THE VERY EARLIEST OF PRESSINGS IN SUPERB ORDER. NO REAL EDGE WEAR EXCEPT FOR A LITTLE AROUND MOUTH OF SLEEVE. STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL GLOSSY SHEEN. INNER IS SUPERB, CRISP AND WHITE AND NEAR MINT.

ALTHOUGH THE SXL LABEL RECORD CAN STILL BE FOUND TO BUY ON EBAY, THE PRICES ARE STEADILY RISING WITH LP RECORDS SEEN MORE AND MORE AS A GREAT INVESTMENT, SO DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS EXTREMELY COLLECTABLE, TACTILE AND SOON TO BE ANTIQUE ITEM.

Year: 1958 STEREO

JUST TO ADD AND SUM UP I REALLY DO NOT FEEL THAT YOU WILL BE DISSAPOINTED IN THE LEAST WITH THE QUALITY OF SOUND FROM THIS LP, JUST LISTENED TO IT AGAIN AND IT REALLY IS HARD TO SELL THIS RARE ITEM FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION.

All vinyl sent well protected with corrugated cardboard stiffeners.

Thanks for looking, happy bidding and take at look at the other vinyl I have available.

We will always combine postage and if you have any questions regarding this or any of our items please do not hesitate to contact us via the ebay email. If you are not happy with your purchase we do accept returns.

If this item reaches a level above £39.00 (GBP), insurance will be mandatory.

Grading system

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticably deteriorated, perhaps with some distoration and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
