Description

Luis "Sabu" Martínez was an early pioneer of percussionists in jazz, he replaced Chano Pozo in Dizzy's big band after Pozo's death. He played with Art Blakey and many others. he released the landmark Alegre Records session "Jazz Espagnole and other recordings---always ahead of the curve. He then moved to Europe where he embarked in a free Latin jazz movement recording a few LPs right up to his mysterious death in the 1979.
This amazing recording from 1957 featured Arsenio Rodriguez on tres, congas and vocals. Also featuring Arsenio's brothers, Quique and Raul plus other members of Arsenio's NY conjunto and Lil' Ray Romero. This recording was so different than any other Blue Note recording that is was pulled off the market after 6 weeks making it an extremely rare LP. Finally in the 1990s, the Japanese division of EMI-Toshiba re-issued not only the LP, but also a CD version. This is the first pressing of the first edition complete with the insert written in Japanese.

Vinyl: Mint minus,  no spindle marks, I played it once to record then bought the CD version i still own. In my collection for almost 25 years
Jacket:  Glossy front and back in excellent condition, no seam separation, The corners are nearly perfect. Top, side and bottom edges have most minimal wear. Side edge artist and catalog info are intact. Front and back covers have most minimal rub wear, barely visible. see photos
Side 1  El Cumbanchero     Billumba-Palo Congo   Choferito-Plena    Asabache
Side 2   Simba    Rhapsodia del Maravilloso    Aggo Elegua   Tribiln Cantore some of these tracks maybe on utoob so you can sample them
Photos seen were taken with my cell camera, not the highest resolution, it's the actual LP Due to the new ebay policy for photos, I had to enlarge images making them slightly distorted.

As a life long record collector, I protect and pack records very well before shipping using a traditional cardboard LP mailer.
