UP NEXT - MORE GOOD JAZZ LPS! This is a reasonably priced ORIGINAL 1957 U.S. VIK RECORDS AFRO-LATIN FREE JAZZ LP titled 'Safari With Sabu' from Afro-Latin percussionist Sabu Martinez with a number of noted jazz players.   It is U.S. Vik Records catalog number LX-1122, black labels.  This album was recorded on June 6 and 13, 1957 in New York City. Personnel: Louis 'Sabu' Martinez-bongos, timpani / Ray Barretto, Ray Romero, Evelio Quintero-congas / Steve Berrios-timbales / Jack Hitchcock-vibes, trombone / Cecil Payne-baritone sax / Gene Allen-oboe, tenor sax / Oscar Pettiford-bass..  Tracks: Jeanette (9:43), Dawn (3:48), Ubas (6:28), Nadenga (12:13), Safari (10:27).  Visual condition of record is a nice VG++ with just a very few very light surface marks which only show up under strong light, cannot be felt, and will not affect play.  Condition of cover is alow VG+ with a 4" split in the right side of the top edge (I have carefully and neatly repaired this split by taping from the inside), some general age discoloration and contact wear, and some general wear along the edges and on the corners.  This LP would be a nice addition to any Afro-Latin or free jazz record collection!
