Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.
Sandie Shaw - 'Hand In Glove' White Label 7" - 1984
Catalogue no. RT 130 - Rough Trade
Very early UK single releases by The Smiths were promoted with 7" 'white label' test pressings rather than the more common 12" white label pressings which were used for later releases (generally, 'Shakespeare's Sister' onwards). These 7" white label pressings are, as would be expected, now highly desirable and collectable. This white label 7", which actually has 'cream' coloured labels, was issued to radio stations in 1984 to promote the Sandie Shaw/Smiths collaboration on 'Hand In Glove'. This one is particularly rare in that not only does it appear unplayed, but it still has its original outer sleeve with the gold-coloured Scott Piering 'Appearing' promotional sticker and the reproduced record labels stuck to the outer sleeve. Several Smiths singles were actually promoted using white label 7"s and outer sleeves prepared in the same manner, with Scott Piering sticker and label copies, but it seems that many of the sleeves were either discarded by radio stations or subsequently lost, since it is now very rare to see one for sale in its original sleeve; an alternate possibility is that not many of these sleeves, which would have been time-consuming to produce, were actually supplied before resorting to sending out the records in plain sleeves. This auction offers a rare opportunity to obtain one of these promotional 7"s in its intended state, and, at the same time, a collectable record providing a real sense of history. The vinyl is in near mint condition, the vinyl being highly-glossy with no discernable surface marks and appearing unplayed. The cream labels have the original 'A' and 'AA' stamps and remain otherwise unmarked. The terrific customised outer sleeve is also in near mint condition, with only the most minor signs of handling after nearly 30 years; there is no seam-splitting in the thin paper sleeve and no tears or significant creases anywhere. This is truly an outstanding example of this very rare find. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 1.60 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 70p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below). I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time (within a week), I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remainder myself. This is the case wherever you live.
