Description

Sandy Denny is best remembered for being the vocalist for one of the most influential bands of the late '60s/early '70s....'Fairport Convention'. Bringing Celtic folk traditions to the forefront, Fairport Convention made its mark with the evanescent vocals of Sandy Deny and Richard Thompson's brave, soulful songwriting and guitar work.  Sandy departed in 1970 and began a career as a solo artist. She achieved some modest success; but it wasn't until 1972 with her simply titled Lp, "SANDY" that critics began to really take notice. For many, "SANDY" is her most accomplished solo effort.....an assured album that straddled her folk past and connected with a contemporary feel, her voice at its most sensual and alluringly expressive.

The copy I am offering is the very 1st UK pressing from 1972 on the Island Records label ( ILPS-9207 ) and "textured" gatefold sleeve. The audio is simply incredible.....clean and balanced, the bass, detailed and prevalent but not distorted...the vocals, crystal clear. No CD or vinyl reissue can better the magnificent playback from this very first UK pressing.


Condition of Gatefold Jacket: Near Mint.....the stunning matt textured jacket shows almost no wear except some minor, inoffensive scuffing to some of the corners. The inner gatefold is flawless. A beautiful example.

Condition of original Inner-Sleeve: Excellent- ......the original baby-blue colored inner is nice and clean.... with a barely visible split at the very bottom which can be easily repaired if desired. A high quality inner will be included to house the precious record.

Condition of Record: Near Mint.....the surfaces to both sides of this heavy-weight vinyl are nearly flawless....beautiful shine. As mentioned, the audio is stunning.  From the very first notes heard on track 1 ("It'll Take A Long Time") you'll know immediately you have a very special pressing on your turntable.
