Description
Sir Malcolm Sargent/ BBC Symphony Orchestra
Sibelius - Symphony No. 1 in E major
(HMV ASD 260 UK LP 1958)
This is a UK original Stereo LP pressing. It has a front laminated flipback sleeve which has a gold circular "Stereophonic" sticker on the front. It has its original polythene lined company "Emitex" inner sleeve.
The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has white & gold HMV labels. These are grooved also. It has 1st press 2YEA 73-6 and 2YEA 74-3 matrix stampers. A genuine UK 1st Stereo pressing.
Sleeve: There is a a 4 cm area of more moderate rubbing wear to the bottom edge, at the sleeve opening. There is some mild to more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tip. There is some very light foxing on the rear. There is some light or very mild rubbing wear at the sleeve opening. VG condition
Vinyl: There are some light to very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There is one very small 1 cm hairline mark on Side 2. Side 1 has two quite long 8 cm, but very light, hairline marks which are quite near to each other. There are 3 other light hairline marks on Side 1 too. They range in size from 4 cm to 8 cm. VG condition. The labels are in excellent condition & show light spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in VG+ condition. There is some light to mild fading, ringwear & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays VG to Near Excellent overall. There is some light or very mild crackle in some quieter places. There are a few light clicks near the start of Side 1. There are a couple of light clicks midway through Side 1 too.
