Description
I'm offering this and two similar items by Miff Mole and Pee Wee Russell, so please see my other listings to get the "full picture."
This is a three-record set, titled Nick's presents his Dixieland Jazz Band featuring "Muggsy" Spanier, album # A-20 on the Manhattan Music Corporation label. Nick's was a 1940s jazz club at 170 West 10th Street in New York City; for more info, go to riverwalkjazz.org/Nicks40s/ . (I'm not a jazz historian but I've looked at many 78s over the years and these are the first I've seen on the Manhattan label. It is possible these records were sold only at the club?) Titles are Feather Brain Bls / Lucky to Me; That's a Plenty / Bugle Call Rag; and Tin Roof Bls / Muskrat Ramble. The folder is in VG condition with a 1" spine tear; some of the spine lettering worn off; and age spots along the top and right side of the cover slick. The records are in "E" condition with strong gloss, clean wax and minimal wear. Also included are a 8-page booklet and an 8 x 10 autographed photo (not a print) of Spainer with his horn, from the legendary Kriegsmann studio.
