Scarce Toscha Seidel Demo Interview & Music, One Side 33, The Other 78. See Description & Pics..... Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Media Mail. This is a scarce promo item from Vanguard Films with an sales pitch to radio stations by Ted Wick, the Director of Radio at Selznick International Studios. The idea was to get pre-recorded interviews with artists answering set questions so you can create the illusion of actually sitting across from the artist doing a live interview, when in all actuality you never even spoke to each other. The idea was to sell to radio programs so that the anchor or DJ could have great guests of their choice "to order" without actually having them. Comes with sample interview transcript with Toscha Seidel being the guinea pig for this unusually modern idea. One side of record has Seidel's answers to the set interview with pauses between answers, at 33 RPM. The Interviewer would add his questions at the studio and the listeners would believe that the two were sitting right across from each other. The second side plays a special music piece for the program. This side plays at 78 RPM. This is a great foreshadowing of modern internet capabilities. The radio stations could buy whatever artists came in this series and make believe that the interview was in person. I wonder if the concept was used at all. I can imagine multiple stations across the country using the same artists, and it would have been funny if any listeners figured it out. Sort of cheating, duping the listener. The sleeve to this record is still tape sealed, but you can read the inside gatefold by peeking inside from top or bottom. Record and transcription can be removed without the sealed envelope style cover ever being opened. Record has average surface wear on both sides but plays pretty good overall. Some tanning on cover and transcript from age as one might expect, but nothing major. This is a sound, collectible copy of this scarce promo record from Vanguard Films. I have never seen another copy for sale or otherwise. An interesting concept as well. Quite ahead of it's time.
