Description

Scott 4 - Scott Engel - 1969 Vinyl, SBL.7913 -  Variant 3. Matrix - Side 1 - 844248 1Y//3▽420 1 1 2 Side 2 - 844248  2Y//1▽420 1 1 ? The cover is solid. No tears or holes. Refer to photos for fading and lines as a photo is a far better representation of its condition than my words can be…..but…..some wear on the corner angles and minimal fraying of card. The back of the cover has an indentation where someone has leant on it when writing or drawing. Rear of cover has some finger marks. The vinyl, expected for a record that is more than half a century old, has some hairline scuffs received from placing in and removing from the sleeve. I managed to photo some but they are so slight it’s almost impossible to get them on camera, and when viewed from a different angle they can’t be seen.  There are four, I think, superficial scratches as recorded in the first 4 vinyl photos, in order to record them they also had to be caught in the light and this does make them appear more prominent than they really are.  The third photo shows three little dots, I think these are either fingernail marks or artefacts from when the record was pressed, they could possibly have been made by the stylus but I don’t think so.  None of these marks has any effect on the playing except one, theshort 4mm mark on the last track side 2, a few seconds before the end/run off there is a ‘pop’ sound.  The vinyl has maintained its sheen. Having seen the condition of other Scott 4 albums for sale -  the ‘69 first pressing not the subsequent reissues - there is no equivalence to the condition of my record….. and they are valued in the £200 + price range. Discogs prices start at £120. I have concentrated my description on the record’s marks, however slight, but I did also go over it with a magnifying glass in order to spot the hairline scratches. Bottom line is it plays very well with little or no interference to the sound quality.  In comparison to current values I’m starting my auction low, not to reflect its condition, but in accordance with eBay’s guideline auction starting price for the ‘69 Scott 4.
