Description
Scott Walker 4 UK 1969 Philips SBL 7913 VG/VG Cover: VG.Nice appearance overall when viewed normally,flaws more evident up close.Slight ring wear beginning on front and back sleeves. Inside gatefold is marginally better.All seams solid,there are typical corner bumps/wear from items from the 60s.
Disc:VG.The disc itself is visually beautiful on both sides.After looking hard,I found perhaps 3 light/surface scratches.Actual playing has significant crackle,however.The music itself comes through nicely in spite of this(some slight sibilance on the tambourine in the right channel on "The Seventh Seal") As this album is full of classical dynamic range (soft /sparse production to loud/fully orchestrated with drums and bass),the noise level is of course kinder to the louder passages.My stylus is a bit fickle some days and a skip (not a repeat but a jump)happened on "Duchess" today and perhaps in the past on "The World's Strongest Man".Upon trying out Duchess a second time,it was only a pop.So...a clean stylus and tracking adjustments may help with this copy.It is still a very nice listen if you don't expect a pristine copy which this isn't.The noise level never overtakes the music,but it is present throughout.I am listing this because of the rarity/market price of original UK Philips copies and the (deserved in my opinion)myth/legend of the album itself and the artist.
