SEVENS - 1st LP Swiss Loyola LY 70 011 ST. 1966 original pressing in Stunning M- condition, both disc & sleeve. Also included is a rare promotional poster, printed by Feathered Apple, never included with the original release.
On offer here is a truly excellent condition copy of one of the rarest & most collectable Worldwide 60's Rock LP's. Switzerland had a thriving mid 60's beat scene, with the Sevens being one of the most popular bands. Which makes the fact of this LP's scarcity, especially in the remarkably clean condition this example is in all the more puzzling. The bands 45's are relatively available, and do show up for sale occasionally. However clean, or should I say AMAZINGLY clean copies of the bands debut LP are another matter entirely.
This copy can be fairly characterized as being thisclosetomint, with almost zero evidence of play or wear being apparent. A listen to the sound clips will reveal the near dead silence between tracks, of which I have recorded the beginning & end of every one. The songs themselves play equally well, with essentially no problems. No skips, almost no crackle (with one exception, about 3 seconds in duration, noted below) No distortion, just crystal clear & powerful sonics can be heard. Please note that the tracks were recorded with a mono cartridge. The LP itself was recorded in stereo, with a wide and vibrant soundstage apparent on all tracks. So the sound clips do not reveal this aspect of the recorded sound. However, they will serve to illustrate the remarkably fine condition the vinyl is in. Super close & critical review of the vinyl revealed precisely one mark that might be considered to be a flaw, this being a hairline mark visible when held at certain angle under extreme bright light on the last track on side one "Why Don't You Love A Man Like Me". I recorded the entirety of this track. As can be heard on the sound clip at 4.42 - 4.46 there is a brief moment, at the very end of the song where a tiny bit of crackle can be heard. This will reveal the playback characteristic of the one mark I could detect on the vinyl. Otherwise the vinyl has a blazingly glossy, essentially mirror finish. And of course the pressing is absolutely top rate, with the super heavyweight vinyl, flat & solid.
This example grades minimally Mint-. The fragile fold-over sleeve is clean & intact, as the photo's accompanying this auction will reveal. The labels are pristine, with zero wear, and no spindle marks. The last photo shows the inside of the fold over sleeve.
A better condition copy of this LP would be hard to imagine.
