Description
Here is an ORIGINAL 1977 FIRST PRESSING of the infamous 'Demos' bootleg vinyl LP by the Sex Pistols.
The sleeve declares the band as 'Sex Pistols' and the album title to be 'No Future'. The label lists the band and album title as 'SPUNK' (short for Sex Pistols UNKnown).
Released in 1977 - ahead of the band's official debut album on the Virgin label - this LP contains less polished (and some would argue better) versions of twelve Sex Pistols' tracks.
I bought this album myself in 1977 (under the counter) from a north London record store. It came in a white sleeve protected in shrink wrap cellophane. The writing on the front cover - in what looks like individually hand stencilled bright green wax crayon lettering - reads "SEX PISTOLS NO FUTURE".
The LP is on the BLANK record label, catalogue number BLA 169. The inscriptions in the run-out grooves read "BLA-169-A", "LYN 4732-1 1 1" and "MAX" on side one and "BLA-169-B", "LYN 4733-1 1 1" and "MAX" on side two.
The sleeve is still 95% protected in it's original cellophane wrap and is 'Excellent'.
Side one of the vinyl is virtually unmarked and rates as 'Excellent +'.
Unfortunately side two has a slight scratch stretching from a quarter of the way into the third track to less than half way through the fifth track. There is also a second similar scratch running through the majority of the final track into the run-out grooves. This is not quite as bad as it sounds: the needle never 'skips' on playback, but on quieter sections (and there aren't many of those on a Sex Pistols record!) there is an audible 'pop' on each revolution where the scratch occurs.
All of the images for this auction (which can be supersized) are photos of the actual sale item. No 'stock' pictures have been used.
