SEX TRASH  "XXX" 7" ep on Maggot Records (1989). Not sure how many pressed, but my guess would be 500 or 1000.  Black vinyl, Long out of print. Vinyl and cover are in NEAR MINT condition, and has only been played once or twice. The vinyl has like one or two tiny marks that are very light and do not affect play. Damn near MINT condition. Same with the cover, theres only the slightest little bit of wear showing, very close to perfect shape. No bends, split seams, or any other major defects. This is my ONLY COPY so bid now, or cry later!    NO RESERVE!!!

SEX TRASH  is a death/thrash metal band from Brazil. Originally known as INSULTER, later changed their name to SEX TRASH. The drummer of this band "D.D. Crazy" was also a member of SARCOFAGO. Would appeal to fans of Sarcofago, Mutilator, Holocausto, (early) Sepultura, Chakal, Megathrash, Necrovore, Slayer,  etc.

After two demos, Sextrash finally came out with their first EP in 1989. That year was full of new albums buy the growing Brazilian scene and Sextrash, in their small, kept high the flag of their brutal thrash. Surely this band is unknown to most of you, like it was for me ‘till one year ago but it’s a quite good band that sometimes is too Sarcofago influences, but anyway this is normal for the great influences they had at the time.

So here we can find good up tempos and a bit chaotic blast beats but everything sounds primordially good with high dosages of thrash too. “Jack The Ripper” is the classic violent opener followed but several stop and go by the more thrash “Sadistic Screams”, with great riffs on the blast beats and quite speed metal oriented solo, that features an unexpected melody. The rhythmic riffage is always inspired and the poor production ruins it a bit but that’s not a big problem.

The last “Extreme Noise Terror” is great at the beginning with quite obscure melodies, to turn in up tempos again. Here the vocals are more screamed and brutal, at the borderline with black metal. The solos are well balanced and they can cover various parts before the refrain. Good. This band, in this EP is very god because is almost perfect in the mix of more brutal parts with slower, more evil one.
Recommended to any early death/thrash fan.

Brazil! No, not the movie. But the underestimated country full of countless extreme bands. Specifically, a band that actually is going for the most raunchiest name and album covers I've seen to date. With a name like 'XXX' and cover art of a naked woman chained up. You can only imagine what kind of aurora you are dealing with.

This end of the eighties transitional demo gives us similarities to different bands and releases. Sarcofago's Christ's Death demo comes to mind. Which is no surprise since drummer D.D. Crazy plays in both bands. Also to note is Sepultura's Bestial Devastation, and some early Slayer releases such as 'Hell Awaits' or 'Reign in Blood' for the high note riffing.

The best way to describe this smut output would be through the instruments. The overall production is recorded in analog. But due to incompetence or lack of decent recording equipment. It cuts out some frequencies and makes the musicians sound sloppy. Initially the sound of the guitars is very mudded, due to the microphone being overloaded with distortion and bass. His style of riffing adventures from high note signatures widely known to Slayer. To travel onto deep tremolo picked segments, similar to blackened/thrash bands. Since the overall production isn't up to par. You can imagine how the drums sound. They are for the most part quick and to the point. The tempo ranges from basic thrash patterns to quick sometimes blast beated areas. His chops are very plainly played, and his drumming skills aren't as monumental as former releases like Sarcofago's I.N.R.I. Lastly, the vocals are a remaining good quality. His vocals vary from low growls to screams similar to a more rough version of Max Cavalera's on Sepultura's first demo titled 'Bestial Devastation'.

Before you will realize it, this short release will be over and a few things might be desired for the better or remain the same. The major dilemma being the production. It is limiting what could have been a great EP musically. But the recordings cut out certain frequencies and the listener might not pick up on what would be correctly played. The debut after this proves that what can be done to improve this still notability, is in fact achievable. Still even though the production is limited, the guitars are well executed musically. Containing well written solos.

This release has a lot of potential. Which is perfect for them adding it as an addition to its musical superior 'Sexual Carnage'. XXX is good for the occasional listen but this isn't a ground breaking EP. But a stepping stone to a great full length debut!
