Hello vinyl junkies, I’m knee deep (elbow deep?) in grease and rusty or missing parts while restoring a classic car (and have another waiting in the wings if I EVER finish the current one) so I'll be slowly selling off the bulk of my record collection to finance these projects… therefore I'll be continuing to list hundreds of LPs over the next few months, so please keep checking back

Anyway, let's continue with this one by the Shaggs Philosophy Of The World released by Rounder Records in 1980. (3032 compatible stereo). This LP was originally released on Third World Records in 1969 - very few copies of the Third World pressing exist (less than 100)... the last one I heard of being sold went for several thousand dollars!  When this LP was re-issued in 1980 Rolling Stone magazine picked the band as "Comeback of the Year"

The Shaggs are real, pure, unaffected by outside influences. Their music is different, it is theirs alone. They believe in it, live it. It is a part of them and they are a part of it. Of all contemporary acts in the world today, perhaps only the Shaggs do what others would like to do, and that is perform only what they believe in, what they feel, not what others think the Shaggs should feel.

The Shaggs love you, and love to perform for you. You may love their music or you may not, but whatever you feel, at last you know you can listen to artists who are real. They will not change their music or style to meet the whims of a frustrated world. You should appreciate this because you know they are pure what more can you ask?

Betty, Helen and Dorothy Wiggin are the Shaggs. They are sisters and members of a large family where mutual respect and love for each other is at an unbelievable high. They study and practice together, encouraged and helped by those around them. Betty, Helen and Dorothy live in a small town in New Hampshire, in an atmosphere which has encouraged them to develop their music unaffected by outside influences. They are happy people and love what they are doing. They do it because they love it.

LP and cover are both in very good condition. LP is still sealed and unplayed.  The cover has no seam splits, writing, cut out marks, rips, tears or other flaws.

I grade on a stricter scale than Goldmine. I'll take the time to describe any flaws rather that give a letter grade that means something different to seemingly every record seller and buyer... I've received too many LPs graded by sellers VG++ or NM that were pretty beat up, and I'm willing to bet it's happened to your too! 

Sorry if the cover looks washed out in the photo below…this is caused by a reflection from the camera flash… the colors are brighter and bolder in person.

Payment is due within seven days after end of auction. Priority mail in the United States is calculated by zip code. Please e-mail for a quote or I will send an invoice after end of auction. Priority rates range between $4.80 to $8.75 for one LP. I do not charge any "shipping" or "handling" fees... you pay what the post office charges me.

I can ship by domestic media mail for $3.50 but please keep in mind that while media mail is the cheapest shipping route it is also the slowest. Media mail can take up to one month or MORE to arrive. If you choose media mail please e-mail me before making a payment to let me know that you understand the delays involved with media mail. Delivery confirmation is included (and required) on Media Mail packages.

Insurance is available for an additional $1.70 as I cannot be responsible for any package that is lost or damaged after it has been shipped.

Overseas shipping is by Air Mail Only (surface mail is not available!) Shipping for one LP to Canada is $7.00, Mexico is $11.00. Anywhere else in the world is $14.00. Sorry, I no longer ship to Italy due to the high number of "LOST" packages.
