Description
Please read the Item Description through carefully before deciding to purchase this item. I recommend you pay particular attention to the P&P/ Shipping section & the Condition section.
Here is the original 12 track UK Stereo LP/ Album Rising Stars At Evening Time by Shake Keane from 1970 (I think). The material was possibly recorded in 1963 or 1964. The front cover states “Gordon Langford Conducts The Kilimanjaro Strings And Orchestra Shake Keane Plays (Flugel Horn) The Hastings Girls Choir Sings” while the label states “Shake Keane Supported by The Hastings Girls Choir Orchestra Conducted by Gordon Langford”. Housed in a front laminated sleeve & released on Pama/ Economy Records, the Catalogue Number is SECO-30. The record itself is housed within a plain inner sleeve. The track listing is Wind And Sand And Sea, The Nursery Blues, Evening Time, Rising Star, Angela, Calle Washington, Ruanda, Laugh Softly, Bossanova Trieste, A Song Of Romance, It’s All Because Of You & Bossa Negra. I assume the package was made in Great Britain for UK release. PLEASE NOTE: In order to show as much detail as possible, some pictures have been merged together to create single images (e.g. different views of the matrix numbers).
Side 1 Matrix: NRP1000?A-1?G SECO 30A-1G STEREO (6 o’clock) I (3 o’clock) E (9 o’clock) KT (12 o’clock)
Side 2 Matrix: NRP1000B-1?G SECO 30B-1G STEREO (6 o’clock) I (3 o’clock) H (9 o’clock) KT (12 o’clock)
I believe this information indicates that it comes from the First Pressing run. The Matrix Numbers are described using a clock face. The first part is the main body of the Matrix Number. It will be at 6 o’clock if it is located in front of the label with the writing curving away from me at the ends (as I look) and at 12 o’clock if it is located behind the label with the writing curving towards me at the ends (as I look). Other times give a rough idea of where additional parts of the Matrix Number are located, in relation to the main part. It’s not meant to be foolproof, just to give an idea of where the various parts of the matrix are, in relation to each other.
Condition as follows including photographs: The sleeve is in very good condition, due to slight creasing, slight wear & slight discoloration. There is slight corner wear. The inner sleeve is in very good minus condition, due to creasing, wear & discoloration. There is a 6cm split along the bottom edge of the inner sleeve. The open edge of the inner sleeve is a bit tatty. The Vinyl is in excellent minus/ very good plus condition. Both sides play through well, with no jumping, skipping or sticking. The overall sound is good on Side One & quite good on Side Two. There is some surface noise throughout, mostly in quieter passages & between tracks. It is more noticeable on Side 2 than on Side 1 as some songs are quite quiet, particularly Laugh Softly. Although I thought the surface noise was at an acceptable level, some people may consider it invasive, while others may find that it does not affect their listening pleasure. I always expect some sound from records of this age & condition. See below for NOTES ON CONDITION*.

*NOTES ON CONDITION: I grade according to the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide & will not necessarily list all individual points in the written description. There will be a blanket grade for each component (sleeve, record etc), which smaller factors fall into. The general appearance will be clearly visible in the photographs. Please study the photographs in detail as they form the bulk of the description. Please be aware that play grading is based on my interpretation of what I hear on my system only. Although it is an honest assessment, it does not automatically follow that you would reach the same conclusion when listening on your own system, as there are so many variables. I DON’T use Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide categories when play grading, just my own judgement.
