Lincoln Mayorga & Distinguished Colleagues. Stereophonic Sheffield 9 Laboratory Series. The back cover describes it best, so here it is verbatim:
From the back sleeve:
"The music contained on this disc, consisting of complete, un-edited performances of entire long-playing sides, was recorded directly to the LACQUER MASTER DISC without the use of tape recorders. An outstanding group of west coast musicians made this record under extremely high pressure, much in the manner of a live radio broadcast, only with the knowledge that inaccuracy anywhere within each group of five selections would require another take of the entire side from the first piece. The cutting head was disconnected in between bands so that the musicians could turn over their music and take a breath.
Why have we gone to all this trouble? Listen to this record!
Heretofore, only operators of high quality disc equipment have been able to observe the remarkable qualities of the pure disc medium, without the limitations of magnetic tape. In respect to transient response, dynamic range, distortion, flutter, and over-all presence, the finished record in your possession is superior to the master tape from which it was not made."
This record is in FANTASTIC condition. It looks un-played and like-new. The outer sleeve is in fair to good condition with moderate wear and a 2" split at the bottom right corner.
An excellent audiophile experience.
