Description

This is a rare demonstration record “8 Songs by Jess Barnet” on MM-454.  Four of the songs are sung by Shirley Horn and four by Reg Stonestreet.  Other than an inaudible scuff on Side A, tracks 1-2, the playing surface appears to be in new condition, with a high luster; perhaps played once.  An obit in 2016 refers to Stonestreet as a vocalist, but nothing more is known about either him or the composer, Jess Barnet.  The recording is clear and crisp throughout – great fidelity.  Issued in a metallic textured utility cover. 

Personnel for Shirley Horn (and maybe Stonestreet) are Steve Novosel and Harry “Stump” Saunders, suggesting that the demo was recorded in 1960.
