Sibelius Brahms Violin Concertos Ginette Neveu UK HMV SLS
This set, “The Complete Recorded Legacy of Ginette Neveu” brings together the slender recorded output of this legend of the violin. They include works recorded in Belin in the late 30’s; Richard Strauss’ Violin Sonata and shorter pieces by Bach, Suk, Gluck, Tartini and others. Also included are her recordings of the Sibelius Violin Concerto (with the Philharmonia conducted by Walter Susskind), and the Brahms and Chausson’s “Poeme” with the Philharmonia conducted by Issay Dobrowen. Works for Violin and Piano include the Debussy Violin Sonata, Ravel “Tzigane” Suk’s “Four Pieces”, and other by Scarlatescu, Falla, and Dinisu acompanied by brother Jean Neveu). A four record set, this is an English pressing on the HMV Label (RLS 739). The records, aprt from a few minor surface scuffs, are of excellent appearance and play and sound very well with a minimum of surface noise. The box laminate has rubbed a little and the booklet is excellent. Payment by credit card or Paypal is preferred – direct debit available to Australian buyers.
